Adult summer reading club 2024

Relax with a good book this summer... and win prizes for doing it! The adult summer reading club is back, so join in the fun by completing challenges and entering weekly prize draws.
This year’s grand prize draw is for a Kobo ereader!

Club information
- Complete a reading challenge and then submit your challenge via the blue button below. You can also submit challenges in person at the 2nd or 3rd floor desks.
- To be eligible to win prizes, you must register for the adult reading club online via the green button above, or in person at the 2nd or 3rd floor desks.
- Each completed challenge gets you an entry into that week’s prize draw, as well as into the grand prize draw at the end of the summer.
- Every five completed challenges count as an additional entry into the grand prize draw.
- Draws are every Friday from July 12 to Aug. 23 and the Grand Prize draw is on Aug. 30.
- One book or activity can be counted for multiple challenges. Each challenge may only be completed once per person.
- Challenges may be completed in any order.
- This challenge is open to anyone 17+. Older teens are welcome to complete the Adult Summer Reading Challenge and the Teen Summer Reading Challenge at the same time.
- All book formats can be counted towards the challenge, including ebooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, or however else you like to read!

- Read the first book in a series
- Read a book by a BIPOC author
- Read a book outside
- Read a book by a 2SLGBTQIA+ author
- Read a book by a North Shore author
- Cook a recipe from a cookbook
- Read a book set in a different time period
- Read a book published in 2024
- Visit our library's seed library and check out some seeds
- Listen to an audiobook or podcast
- Read a book from a different culture
- Read a romance
- Read a book translated from another language
- Attend a program or event at City Library or in The Plaza
- Read a book with an Indigenous protagonist
- Read a genre you've never tried before
- Read a nonfiction book
- Build a puzzle or play a board game
- Read a magazine or newspaper
- Read a book set on another continent
- Borrow a birding or hiking backpack from City Library
- Read a book that's been adapted into a movie or TV show
