In our next Issues that Matter program, join us for an in-depth discussion of the evolving relationship between music and artificial intelligence. 

Songwriter Tariq Hussain and composer Arne Eigenfeldt will discuss the impact that AI has had on music, and what the future may look like for musicians, producers, and the industry as a whole. There will also be an opportunity for audience Q&A.

About the presenters

Tariq Hussain is a Juno nominated songwriter, recording artist and radio broadcaster. His current music project is a dance-rock band called mallmall – new music coming in 2026. His music essays have appeared in The Walrus magazine and he teaches songwriting at UBC's School of Creative Writing.

Arne Eigenfeldt is a composer living in North Vancouver’s LoLo District. His day gig is a professor of music and technology at Simon Fraser University‘s School for the Contemporary Arts. He’s also an Associate Dean in the Faculty of Communication Art and Technology. He recently wrote an article for The Conversation on the impact of AI on artists. He also released a double vinyl album on RedShift Records.
