Help with a variety of events and one-off volunteer opportunities in the library. You can choose which opportunities you help with. Events include fundraisers, writing contest Awards celebrations, designing artwork for promotional materials, etc. When you sign up for this list you will also receive information about external volunteer opportunities for youth in the community that we are able to pass along. If you are new to volunteering with the library, you will complete a self-paced orientation.
Want to develop your leadership skills while having fun helping to plan and promote Library programs and events for teens? You will get a chance to provide input on teen services and materials at the Library. The mandatory orientation for the Teen Advisory Council will be held in person on Wednesday, January 21 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., followed by meetings on February 4 & 18, March 11, April 8 & 29, May 13 & 27 and a special event on June 2nd. There will be no meeting during Spring Break. You will have the opportunity to continue for the Summer session in 2026 if you choose to.
Teen Art and Promotion (TAP) group gets together every two weeks to create eye-catching artwork to be displayed in key areas of the library along with supporting other creative projects led by library staff, including some content creation for library social media campaigns. While the group does meet on set days and times, TAP also gives its volunteers some options to work from home on projects and still collect volunteer hours. Teens get full credit for hours dedicated to their work – from idea generation to display set up. No need to purchase your own supplies! Participants should be available on the following Mondays to meet in The Room (2nd Floor) during Teen Time from 3:30 to 5:00: Jan 5, 19; Feb 2; Mar 16, 30; Apr 13, 27; May 11, 25.
Want to get your hands on YA titles before they’re released to the public? Do you like the idea of earning volunteer hours according to a flexible schedule? Become a teen verified book reviewer and get a chance to read and review the newest books! This is a great opportunity to help spread the word about your favourite new books and help us recommend the best titles for teens. The mandatory orientation meeting date will be Friday, Jan. 16 from 3:30 – 4:45 p.m.
