Book clubs

Join in one of the library's many book clubs for thoughtful discussion and contemplation lead by a librarian. Our book club sets, available on the second floor, can be borrowed for six weeks. Book club selections may also be available as an ebook.

Adult book club

Participants can join our book club discussions either at the library or via Zoom. Simply read the book and join the meeting!

The book club meets about every six weeks; over the year, book selections typically include five contemporary fiction works, two nonfiction works and one classic. Registration is required no later than one hour before the meeting. Explore Adult book club.

Persian book club

The Persian book club meets on the last Wednesday of the month from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., via Zoom. Everyone is welcome, but registration is required. At each gathering, the following month’s book is chosen. Books will be distributed to the group based on availability. Librarians can help you find a copy at another library if needed. Explore Persian book club.

Chapter chat book club

Chapter Chat book club is for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We will meet twice a month to talk about what participants have been reading. Anyone can participate, whatever their reading level. The goal of the club is to foster community inclusion and facilitate connections. Caregivers are welcome to attend. Refreshments and light snacks will be served. View Chapter Chat events in the calendar.

Adult ELL book club

Are you an adult looking to improve your English? Join our adult ELL (English language learner) book club every other Thursday for five sessions. As you read the selected ELL book during these sessions, your English will improve and you’ll make new connections with other English language learners. This program is suitable for learners at the pre-intermediate level. Space is limited and registration is required. Participants must attend all sessions. View in calendar.

How can I start my own book club?

NVCL can support community book clubs by providing access to our book club sets, suggestions for what to read next, and discussion guides. If your book club is looking for a place to meet, please see our room rentals page.
