The following services are temporarily suspended for May 15:
Digital services, like the library’s many digital databases, are available 24/7 at nvcl.ca/digital-library. You can also continue to check out ebooks and e-audiobooks via Libby, or place holds in the catalogue. A selection of daily newspapers and free books to read will be available outside the library building about 9 a.m. on May 15.
The other North Shore libraries have space available for quiet work and study. For more information, visit their websites:
One of the library’s guiding values is being welcoming and inclusive. From the City Library strategic plan:
We work to make everyone feel safe, welcome and comfortable. We endeavour to reflect and respect the diversity in our community.
This value is also reflected in our strategic priority to enhance access and inclusion and our aspiration that members of our community, in all of their diversity, will feel a sense of community and belonging in the library. These values are critically important to us as an organization and as a community. The closure means our staff will have the opportunity for deep reflection, learning and planning.
It is our hope that this training will help us to create a workplace and library services that are more equitable and inclusive for all.
