Make a tie-dye t-shirt

Saturday, March 15, 2 – 3:30 p.m.

Have you ever made a tie-dyed t-shirt? It can be a lot of fun to dye a shirt in bright colours with spiralling designs. In this science activity, you will get to dye a t-shirt with your own colourful artwork using permanent markers. Along the way, you will find out how solubility helps your drawings leave beautiful designs on the fabric. For grades 4 – 7.

March 17 – 21, noon – 4 p.m.

Want to be a filmmaker? Interested in learning to use professional cameras and editing software? Make an original short film in five days! Experienced facilitators will guide you through the entire process, from scripting to shooting to post-production. For grades 7 – 12.

Terrible teddies

Tuesday, March 18, 2 – 3:30 p.m.

Make your own terrible teddy! These huggable monstrosities will be totally unique and right from your own imagination because we’ll be creating the process for this project as we go, one step at a time! For ages 5 – 10.

Wednesday, March 19, 10:30 a.m. – noon

Join us as we make a birdhouse that will be a "home tweet home" for our feathered friends! This program is a parent-guardian event.

Wednesday, March 19, 2 – 3:30 p.m.

Get creative with a tasty drink, and learn the simple steps required to make your own boba tea! Learn how to make this popular drink from scratch, beginning with forming the dough and rolling it into boba pearls, then mixing a quick and easy tea recipe. For grades 4 – 7.

Sew a light-up button

Thursday, March 20, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Join us for this STEAM crafting afternoon where you will design and create your very own light-up button! Participants will come up with a simple design for their button, then work with felt and hand sew embroidery to bring their design to life. For ages 10 – 13.

Make crêpe spirals

Saturday, March 22, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Welcome young bakers for a brunch inspired by the French cuisine crêpes. These delicious foods can be sweet and savory, and eaten with your hands or a knife and fork. During this program, children will create and sample crêpe spirals, choosing from a variety of spreads and toppings. This is a parent-participation program.

Under the sea aquarium windows

Tuesday, March 25, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Picture yourself swimming, diving, or snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, and imagine what you might see under the sea. During this afternoon's craft, children will design an aquarium window and coral reef using a variety of craft and recycled materials.

Tuesday, March 25, 2 – 4 p.m.

Learn how to carve your very own, personalized stamp using a lino-cutting tool. You'll leave with not only your own stamp, but a handful of custom greeting cards to share with friends and family. For ages 10 – 15.

Wednesday, March 26, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Come make and decorate a rainbow wind chime. Hang your chime outside and listen to the joyful sound welcoming spring. This program is a parent-guardian event.

Thursday, March 27, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

In this beginner workshop, you'll learn the anatomy of a bicycle, how to care for your chain, and how to assess and repair a flat tire. For ages 10 – 18.

Craft a light-up wand

Friday, March 28, 10:30 a.m. – noon

Join us for a fun crafting morning where you will create your own custom light-up wand. We will learn about electricity and circuitry to build these light-up wands. Participants will get to customize their wands with color and decorations, to create a unique wand for themselves. For ages 5 – 10 and their caregivers.

Saturday, March 29, 10 a.m. – noon

Let's have fun building with Lego and Keva! Join other builders for two hours of imaginative free play. All supplies will be available for use in the program room, and children can create any structure that sparks their interest. For grades 1 – 4.
