The City Library Teen Advisory Council is excited to announce the return of the teen zine this spring. Youth who live, work or go to school on the North Shore are invited to submit work for publication.
Work should speak to this year's theme: Make life more sustainable.
The finished zine will be published in early June and celebrated with a release party. Due to space limitations, your submission might not be included for this edition.
Entry deadline: Saturday, April 15
Acceptable formats
- Photography
- Illustrations
- Comic strips
- Poetry (1 page max)
- Creative writing (750 word max)
- Interview (750 word max)
- Nonfiction article (750 word max)
- Book review (150 word max)
- Movie review (150 word max)
- Original music or audio
Submission guidelines
- All submissions must be your original work
- Accepted file types are txt, rtf, pdf, doc, docx, png, jpg, jpeg
- Open only to youth who live, work or go to school on the North Shore
- Entries must be received by the deadline: Saturday, April 15

Here are some examples to get your creative juices flowing:
- Interview with a creator of sustainable fashion
- Review of new movies or books with plots featuring climate change
- An article exploring approaches to sustainability in different cultures
- A short story exploring a future dystopian world impacted by climate change
- Interview with a local senior(s) on the question of “How to live a long and or good life”
- Illustration or comics answering the question: “Can working to improve the environment bring us together?”
- Poem about: Fighting for a better planet / Fighting oppression / Fighting for freedom
