In this informative workshop, attendees will use hands-on creative methods and group discussion to explore artificial intelligence in our everyday lives in healthcare, finance, and entertainment settings. We’ll make maps, zines, and more to make hidden AI systems visible.
Revealing AI is a hands-on, creative workshop. We’ll map and “make visible” how AI is embedded in healthcare, finance, and entertainment and shapes our everyday lives. This workshop is also part of a research project led by Sarah O’Sullivan and Mathew Arthur from Capilano University. The workshop is free and will be fun and accessible. We will also collect workshop “data” like the creative materials participants make (collage, zines, etc.), photos and recordings of the workshop, stories that come up in discussion, and notes we take throughout. These will be stored on secure cloud storage. We will share these materials at academic conferences and in scholarly publications.
You’ll be asked to sign a consent form that lets you decide if and how to share your name, whether you want to be in photos and recordings, etc. You can change your mind during the workshop. Your Eventbrite registration details (name, email, etc.) are confidential—but we will use your email address to communicate about the workshop and for any follow-up messages.
This workshop is intended for participants 19 years of age or older. The workshop materials and activities consider everyday experiences with AI that require lived experiences of technology related to banking, healthcare, and entertainment specific to adults.
