April 16, 2025

5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Give your favourite old t-shirt new life by transforming it into a tote bag! This is an introductory class and instruction and assistance will be available; however, some sewing experience would be useful.

Please bring your own shirt; cotton is best. The library will provide the rest of the materials and tools. All ages are welcome, but all participants under 13 must be supervised by an adult, as per the library’s sewing safety guidelines.

The library’s sewing machines can be operated using a foot pedal or by hand using a stop/start button. For more information about the sewing machines, view the manual and sewing machines page.

Cassandra, the upcycling instructor, is a textile repair artist and community organizer. She believes that mending and repair are powerful tools for reducing waste, preserving our limited resources, and reconnecting people with the value of their belongings. She operates a mending fieldhouse residency at Slocan Park in Vancouver.

Registration is required. Questions? Email info@nvcl.ca or call 604-998-3450
