Trick or treat!
Are you looking to make a Halloween costume for your little one? Want to learn some crafting skills and make some new connections along the way? Join us for our Halloween costume creation program, which comprises a mandatory introductory session (the event you are currently viewing), followed by sessions on Wednesdays and Saturdays in September and October, during which you'll work on your Halloween costume with light guidance.
During the introductory session, you'll learn the tech and pick your costume, and then a staff member will help you register for the Saturdays and Wednesdays that you'd like to attend the program.
Participants only need to attend one introductory session. Introductory sessions take place on:
- Saturday, Sept. 7 @ 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Wednesday, Sept. 11 @ 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
After you register for an introductory session, a staff member will contact you to confirm whether you would like to attend the introductory session on Sept. 7 or Sept. 11.
More about this introductory session
This intro session will introduce you to tools for designing and creating a Halloween costume. You'll learn how to use the Cricut machines and design software to plan and cut your costume template, then learn to use the library sewing machines to bring your costume to life!
All costumes will be made out of felt, which is a versatile material that can easily be turned into costume pieces. Come with your ideas, and work with staff to plan, design, and create your costume!
To simplify the process, we also have several designs and templates prepared. Choose two or three pieces out of six options. Get creative by mixing and matching to create your own unique costume! Each costume piece will take about one three-hour session to complete. All materials will be supplied by the library.
Available costume pieces:
- Facemasks
- Ears or horns
- Cuffs or paws
- Cape or wings
- Tails
Costumes are designed for children ages 0 to 10. Unsupervised use of technology is limited to those 13 and older.
Join our Halloween party & parade!
Once you've finished your costume, join us on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 5 – 6:30 p.m. for a costume parade and party with light refreshments. All participants are welcome to attend.
